Before money changes hands

Inspect the cart, not just the asking price.

Ask about battery age

For an electric cart, identify the battery type, installation date, charger, and remaining warranty. Replacement cost can materially change the value of two otherwise similar carts.

Separate a cart from an LSV

A seller calling a cart “street legal” is not enough. An LSV should have a VIN and title and requires registration and insurance. Settle the classification before paying.

Test what you will use

Drive it from a cold start. Check braking, steering, lights, tires, charging, and any accessories. Confirm that the charger, keys, and available paperwork come with the sale.
